Matteo Pericoli (b. 1968 in Milan) is an architect, illustrator, and teacher. His first book, Manhattan Unfurled, was published by Random House in autumn 2001. It was followed in autumn 2003 by Manhattan Within, also published by Random House. His first children’s book, See the City, Knopf for Young Readers, came out in 2004. The True Story of Stellina, Knopf for Young Readers, his second children’s book, followed in spring 2006. In May 2007 he completed Skyline of the World, a 397-foot mural for the new American Airlines terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, which was published in a book titled World Unfurled in October 2008 (Chronicle). His drawings have appeared in The New York Times, The Observer, The New Yorker, La Stampa, and other periodicals. His works have been exhibited in European and American galleries and museums. His books have been published in the US, the UK, Italy, South Korea, and China. His most recent is London Unfurled (Picador UK, 2011). July will mark the launch of the children’s version, London for Children (Macmillan Children’s Books UK). He has taught architecture and illustration at Saint Ann’s School, Brooklyn, and currently lives in Turin.
